Testimonials ~

It is exquisitely flattering when one of your favorite photographers writes about you in his blog! Photographer Ron Dillon writes about a bride who came to me with a horribly botched set of eyelash extensions she had gotten at a salon:

I witnessed another amazing wedding at the Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas last week and the proof is in these photos below.

Before I show you the amazing time Chad, Helen and their guests had at the Mandarin Oriental, I need to discuss something I was witness to during Helen’s getting ready photos. Now, I’m no stranger to improvising on someone’s wedding day. Sometimes things don’t go as planned and you have to think quickly. I’ve been in situations where I’ve had to duct tape lights together, witnessed a groom split his pants right before the ceremony and saw a wedding cake implode right before my eyes. Sometimes…you just have to play the cards you’re dealt and make the best of a situation.

Dee from RED Makeup Design got to play MacGyver while doing Helen’s hair and makeup and let me say….I was totally impressed. I’m not an eyelash expert, but for some reason, Helen’s lashes wouldn’t curl. Being up against a tight timeline, Dee sprung into action. It all happened in slow motion…like you see in the movies. The theme from Chariots of Fire started to play in my head and Dee said “I got this.” Without even looking in her bag she reached in pulled out a spoon. A SPOON. omgwtflol

She was able to somehow take said spoon and using her thumb and the spoon’s bottom, curl the lashes like they’d never been curled before. My jaw hit the floor. In seconds, Dee was able to perfectly curl Helen’s lashes…and they stayed curled the entire evening. MIND = BLOWN. I haven’t seen old-school gangster stuff like that since I first saw Warren G featuring Nate Dogg “Regulate” video.

My many years in the makeup business have provided me with essential ability to think on my feet and improvise to make my clients look their very best, even when faced with obstacles. This particular bride had just gotten a horribly botched set of eyelash extensions at a salon. They were pointing downward, uneven, and criss-crossed. There was no time to remove them so I had to work with what was there. As you can see by her beautiful photo for our Bridal Gallery link, I was able to curl them and fill them in with individual false lashes that I custom-trimmed to blend in with the rest of her lashes. She looked fantastic. It was a personal proud moment for me, but always an incredible feeling when my talents are recognized by one of the greats! Thanks, Ron! http://www.rondillonphotography.com

Dee,

Thank you so much for your art. My husband and I both agreed it was the best makeup ever! You turned an ordinary-looking woman into a good-looking woman. The whole experience was a pleasure and I had a great photo shoot afterwards. I have never felt so comfortable wearing makeup the whole day, and it was so beautiful that I was so reluctant to remove it.

I hope we will see each other in the future. If you open a makeup school one day, I want to be the first student-Haha!

Have a nice day,

Beilei R., Bride

Hi Dee,

I found it amazing that without knowing the girls and me that you were able to design the hairstyles and makeup that we each had in mind.

I want to thank you for making me look beautiful, being flexible with my mother and making the morning calm while dealing with many personalities.

I would feel very comfortable giving your name to other bridal parties, if you wouldn't mind.  You were a pleasure to work with.

Thank you again,

Laurie H., Mother of the Groom
